In order for HR to be successful with the C-suite, HR has to understand the business and have business acumen. To develop the talent of the HR professionals under us, we should encourage them to know the business and understand how their role affects the bottom line. HR is about people, but in order to grow upward and lose the notion of necessary evil, we have to start making some changes.
Sarah’s intent is that you’ll walk away more knowledgeable, confident, and ready to raise the bar of your HR department, along with your perceived and actual value.
Sarah Davidson is a caffeine dependent, reluctant semi-regular exerciser that resources humans by day and raises her tiny humans at night, while attempting to have a social life. She loves curse words, vacations, and the thought of working less than 40 hours in a week.
In all seriousness, she’s the Director of Human Resources for an international engineering, manufacturing, and construction firm with 8 entities and 680+ employees. Since joining them in 2013, they have tripled in size and have no plans to slow down. Sarah holds her SHRM-CP, PHR, and is currently working towards her California credential with SHRM.
